Phlebotomist
Job Description:
- Perform blood collection procedures (venipuncture and capillary punctures) efficiently and safely, following all health and safety guidelines to minimize discomfort to patients and reduce the risk of infection.
- Prepare and handle specimens for laboratory testing, including labeling, sorting, and storing in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of all blood draws, documenting patient information, the volume of blood drawn, and any adverse reactions.
- Ensure the cleanliness and sterilization of phlebotomy equipment and work areas, adhering to infection control and safety policies.
- Provide clear instructions to patients during the blood collection process and offer support and reassurance as needed.
Qualifications:
- Certification in Phlebotomy from a recognized institution.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Phlebotomist, preferably in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.
- Excellent venipuncture technique with the ability to perform blood draws on a diverse patient population.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Knowledge of safety and infection control standards relevant to phlebotomy.
